Wanted: A Heart for Service—Join the Unity South Central Region Board as Secretary

The Unity South Central Region Board is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to step into the meaningful role of Board Secretary. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve the ministries of our region in a hands-on, impactful way.

As Secretary, you will play a vital role in capturing the voice and vision of the Board — keeping accurate records and minutes that preserve our history and keep our work moving forward. More than an administrative role, this is an invitation to be a steady, trusted presence at the heart of regional leadership.

General Description of Board Service

USCR is run by its board of trustees with the assistance of a few dedicated staff members. Serving as a board member includes focusing on individual tasks for each position, the monthly board meeting, attending the regional conference, and the annual and any special board and membership meetings.

  • Depending on the position and role(s) a board member holds, the monthly time commitment may be anywhere between one or two hours per week on average, not including travel and participation in the regional conference and other events. Some positions, such as the president or the regional representative, require significantly longer time commitments.

    • Preparing and submitting any relevant reports for the board and other meetings.

    • Attending monthly board and other meetings.

    • Fulfilling the duties of the assignment position and role on the board.

    • Preparing, hosting, and/or attending meetings relevant to the assigned position and role(s).

    • Serving as a liaison to USCR, UWM, and other teams relevant to the assignments.

    • Attending regional and other conferences/conventions as needed.

  • The USCR board position is non-paid.

  • Any person elected to the board of trustees must be an active member of a ministry. They will be a person who:

    • Desires to serve on the board;

    • endeavors to live according to the Principles of Love and Truth as taught by Unity and as shown in their personal stories of spiritual growth;

    • furthers the work of the region by active participation, service, and documented financial support;

    • and is willing to follow the principles of agreeing and disagreeing in Love.

  • Those eligible for membership shall be within USCR’s jurisdiction as defined by their bylaws and bylaw policies. Such individuals include:

    • A licensed and/or ordained Unity minister

    • A Licensed Unity Teacher

    • A delegate of a member ministry

    • An individual who is placed into THE (not any) leadership position of a Unity ministry

    • There shall not be more than one trustee affiliated with any one member ministry or organization.

    • No board of trustees shall be affiliated with UWM or UWH if engaged in the following (but not limited to) capacities: board member, employee, UWM-certified consultant, etc.
