Inclusive Prayer Language
by Rev. Jacquie Fernandez
Join us for DEIJB Conversations, a supportive space for Unity leaders to deepen their understanding and strengthen their skills around Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Belonging. These interactive calls, facilitated by Rev. Jacquie Fernandez, offer tools, resources, and real-talk guidance on topics like privilege in spiritual spaces, true accessibility, inclusive prayer and meditation, LGBTQ+ belonging, and the power of intersectionality.
Whether you’re just beginning this journey or already doing the work, this is an opportunity to grow in community with fellow ministry leaders. Together, we’ll explore practical ways to apply DEIJB principles to every area of ministry so that we’re not just talking about belonging—we’re actively realizing it in our spiritual communities. As we approach Unity’s World Day of Prayer, our August and September calls will focus on inclusive prayer language—removing ableist terms, incorporating gender-affirming language, and exploring universal language that honors the diverse faith journeys within our communities, all while staying rooted in Unity’s evolving theological framework.
We meet at 11 a.m. CT on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month. The 2nd Thursday call provides education, tools and resources, and a practical application (aka homework assignment) and is recorded. The 4th Thursday call is a follow-up of the topic designed for reflection and deeper discussion and is not recorded. Attendance meets CEU requirement for Unity Worldwide Ministries.
